The Story Behind the Bike
Building the Civilized nearly broke its founders.
They set out to design what no cargo bike company had done before — a fully integrated urban cargo platform. Purpose-built. Enclosed drivetrain. Hard-shell panniers that expand from 20 to 80 liters. A 750W mid-drive motor.
They pulled it off. Electrek, The Verge, and Electric Bike Report covered it. Riders called it the best cargo bike they'd ever ridden.
Then the capital ran out.
The factory had a choice. They chose the brand — releasing 120 bikes at a loss to find the riders who would prove what this platform is.

What are the height and weight limitations for the rider?
Our frame will best fit riders approximately 5’6”-6’3”, but experienced riders outside those guidelines have also enjoyed the Civ. The Model 1 is designed to be able to carry up to 400lbs.
How do I replace the battery?
Simply unplug the connector and undo the straps.
How do I lock it?
The power system can be locked with a PIN code, and there are built in lock points located on the footrests.
What is your warranty policy?
We offer a 10 year frame warranty and a 2 year warranty on all other components. Typical wear items are excluded - tires, brake pads, etc.
What are the laws concerning ebikes?
We ultimately recommend checking your local laws before operation as state laws vary. However, many have adopted the California '3 class' system as a framework.
- Class '1' ebikes are pedal assist only with top speed of 20mph.
- Class '2' ebikes have a throttle and a top speed of 20 mph.
- Class '3' ebikes are do not provide throttle assistance over 20mph, and have a top motor assistance speed of 28mph.
The Model 1 has multiple power levels that allow it to be either a class '2' or class '3' ebike.
